Does the world need another blogspot on grief and loss?

When I first started writing seriously, my work revolved around losses. The death of my husband was the incentive for my book, "A Love so Great, a Grief so Deep". After 42 years with a man who was as important to me as life itself, my grief work revolved around journaling, interpersonal work, reaching out to others and creating a new life as a single. As I processed my loss, my personal journey included the study of grief and loss professionally. As a therapist and educator, I am motivated to share knowledge with others as they work through the tangles of life.

Grieving a loss is an emotional journey that affects every aspect of our life. One of the challenges I faced was finding a way to define what I was experiencing as feelings can be contradictory, unsettling, draining and confusing. Healing and recovery from wounded hearts require both the experience and expression of the emotions loss invokes. Since the death of my son two months ago, I am amazed at how my loss has triggered in others old losses which they share as if they had just happened yesterday.

I asked myself whether the world needed another blogspot relating to grief and loss. Yet I feel the pull to provide a place for people to give expression to what they are going through and in sharing give an opportunity for feedback and support.

Losses come in many packages and occur throughout our lifetime. They are not just about the physical death of a loved one. In every loss, there are elements of grieving that are the same. Whether your loss is recent or old, about childhood issues, on-going life adjustments, divorce or serious health issues you probably have questions or something to share about your experience.

So, I invite anyone willing to share, to add comments or questions.
